Day 1 Arrive Lima
Arrive in Lima.

Day 2 Lima
Explore Lima.

Day 3 Pisco
Explore Lima some more before catching a bus to Pisco, renowned for its local drink, the Pisco Sour. Enjoy Peruvian food and drink.

Day 4-5 Nazca
Visit the Ballestas Islands to view sea lion colonies, penguins and abundant bird life. Catch a bus to Nazca, stopping en route to visit the sand dunes of Huacachina, with an option to go sandboarding. Take an optional flight over the mysterious Nazca Lines, then visit a fascinating Pre-Inca cemetery in the Nazca desert with 1500 year-old mummies, bones and pottery.

Day 6 Arequipa
At 2325m (7626 ft) above sea level Arequipa, Peru’s second largest city, is surrounded by the Andes mountains and lies in the shadow of El Misti Volcano. Optional visit to Santa Catalina Monastery.

Day 7-8 Colca Canyon
Travel to Chivay, where hot thermal baths and Peruvian music await. Acclimatize and take short hikes around one of the deepest canyons in the world. Try to spot a soaring Condor in the majestic Andes mountains.

Day 9-11 Puno / Lake Titicaca
Travel the Andes to the town of Puno on Lake Titicaca. Take a boat trip to visit the Uros, Amantani and Taquile Islands, then immerse yourself in Peruvian rural life with a homestay in a small village before returning to Puno on Day 11.

Day 12-13 Cuzco
Enjoy spectacular views while travelling to Cuzco through the high Altiplano region. With a friendly atmosphere, Cuzco offers nearby Inca ruins, cobblestone streets, museums, markets and churches.

Day 14-17 Inca Trail
A trip to km 82 begins a once in a lifetime journey on the ancient trail of the Incas. Local porters and guides ensure that the trip is worry-free. Fascinating ruins and spectacular scenery fill every day. On the final day, climb the steps to Intipunku, the ‘Sun Gate’, to watch the sunrise over Machu Picchu. Return to Cuzco by train.

Day 18 Cuzco
Today is free to relax, explore and shop in Cuzco, or discover its surroundings on any number of optional excursions such as bungee jumping, mountain biking, or whitewater rafting in the Sacred Valley of the Incas.

Day 19-21 Amazon Jungle
Fly from the Andes to Puerto Maldonado, deep in the lowlands of the Amazon jungle. Travel by motorized canoe to a lodge in the Tambopata Rainforest Area, which holds the world record for the most bird sightings in one area. Explore the jungle with local guides before flying to Lima.

Day 22 Lima
Enjoy a day in Lima.

Day 23 Huaraz
Catch the morning bus to Huaraz. Arrive Huaraz 5:30pm. Transfer to hotel (Olaza’s Guest House), eat dinner, and try to sleep!

Day 24 Huaraz
Spend the morning gathering any additional gear. Acclimatization hike in the afternoon to the Way Inn. Spend the night at the lodge.

Day 25 Huaraz
Hike to Churup Lake (4450m) and Churupita Peak (5035m) from the Way Inn. Descend to the Lodge and transport down to Huaraz for the night.

Day 26 Cebolla Pampa
Transport to Cebolla Pampa (Yanapaccha trailhead) and from there do a day hike to Laguna 69, (4950m). Return to Cebolla Pampa and camp there (4100 meters).

Day 27-30 Yanapaccha Base Camp
From Cebolla Pampa hike to the Yanapaccha Base Camp (4750m).

Day 31 Yanapaccha Summit
Rise and shine about 3:00 am for breakfast and gearing up for the climb. Head up to the glacier and begin the summit attempt! Depending upon snow conditions, weather, and team health/fitness, the summit (5460m) can be reached in 4-6 hours. The descent will take 3-4 hours and we should be back in camp by mid afternoon for a warm lunch and some rest.

Day 32 Cebolla Pampa
Pack up camp, and begin the hike out to the trailhead (Cebolla Pampa) and camp there. Spend the afternoon relaxing at a lower elevation.

Day 33 Chopicalqui Moraine Camp
From Cebolla Pampa hike to Moraine Camp of Chopicalqui (4930m) – for this porters will help carry the load, expedition members will be responsible to carry their personal items. The hike typically takes about 6 hours.

Day 34 Chopicalqui High Camp
Ascend to the high camp located at 5300m on the glacier.

Day 35 Chopicalqui Summit
Summit day! Go for the summit (6386m) then descend all the way to moraine camp.

Day 36 Back to Huaraz
Hike out to the trail head and return to Huaraz. Back in town around 4:00pm That night a celebration dinner!

Day 37-38 Huaraz
Relax in Huaraz.

Day 39-40 Lima
Catch a bus back to Lima. Relax in Lima.

Day 41 Winnipeg
Catch my flight back home to Winnipeg :(
